Nayanthara and Dhanush have been embroiled in a controversy over copyright claims on a BTS video from the movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The BTS video was used for Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary titled Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. Just 2 days before the release of the documentary, Nayanthara published a public letter to Dhanush calling him out for the outrageous copyright infringement notice.

Nayanthara Responds To Dhanush’s Legal Notice

Both the actors kept on going back and forth with legal notices to each other. In a recent update, Dhanush had filed a civil lawsuit against Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan and also their company, Rowdy Pictures Private Limited. In the lawsuit, it was revealed that Dhanush had objected to the use of the BTS videos and images from his produced movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary. Now, Nayanthara’s lawyer has responded to the lawsuit allegations and said that their clients that is Nayanthara and Vignesh Sivan have in no way violated any copyright laws.

The Jawan actor’s lawyer Rahul Dhawan also revealed that the footage used in the documentary was part of the actresses’s personal photo library and in no way belonged to Dhanush’s production house which is the Wunderbar Films Private Limited.

While speaking to HT, Rahul Dhawan mentioned that there is no infringement or violation because the images and videos used in the documentary series were not a part of behind-the-scenes from Dhanush’s film, moreover the same is part of the personal library, and therefore it cannot be considered an infringement. He also added that they have formally submitted their response and the next hearing on the case will be on  December 2 in Madras High Court.

For the unversed, the actress took matters publicly after Dhanush sent her a 10 crore copyright claim notice. Many fellow colleagues of Nayanthara also came out in support of her.
