Nayanthara recently criticized Dhanush over a legal dispute surrounding her Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. The controversy began when Dhanush denied her permission to use songs, visuals, and photographs from the 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which he produced under his banner Wunderbar Films. The actor called out what she perceived as personal animosity, leading to creative and logistical hurdles for her documentary.

Nayanthara Calls Out Dhanush

Nayanthara revealed that her team faced significant challenges as Dhanush consistently declined multiple requests for footage, even for behind-the-scenes material that was already publicly available on social media. After waiting for over two years, she had to re-edit the project to remove the disputed content. Despite this, Dhanush sent her a legal notice demanding ₹10 crore in damages, citing unauthorized use of a three-second clip.

The actor described Dhanush’s actions as not just professionally obstructive but personally vindictive. She alleged that his refusal wasn’t about financial or contractual concerns but a deliberate attempt to sabotage her efforts. Nayanthara also referenced past tensions during the making of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, where she claimed Dhanush was openly critical despite the film becoming a commercial success and a fan favourite. She highlighted the struggles faced by self-made individuals in the industry, contrasting her journey with Dhanush’s, who she noted had significant family support. Calling for mutual respect in the creative process, Nayanthara emphasized the importance of supporting projects that involve hard work and passion, rather than letting personal grievances dictate professional decisions.
