Navya Naveli Nanda Says Discussing Periods With Grandpa Amitabh Bachchan Is A Sign Of Progress. We’re Glad She’s Destigmatizing Mensturation!

When I first got my periods, I had no clue about it because no one bothered to educate me about it and that’s how I realised that women think that it should be a hush-hush topic. And I can’t even think about discussing periods with any male members of my family because I know that they will get traumatised by hearing the word menstruation. But Navya and her grandfather Amitabh Bachchan aka Big B are here to change it. Recently, Navya Naveli Nanda said that discussing periods with her grandfather is a sign of progress. Everyone should take notes from them.

Recently, Navya Naveli Nanda along with her grandfather Amitabh Bachchan spoke about menstrual hygiene and reproductive health. She said that there’s still a long way to go before women in the country are given proper access to health and sanitation. Navya said that the first step is to stop treating menstrual health, and mental health, as taboo topics and people must be willing to discuss these subjects with their friends, family, and peers. She also mentioned the fact that she’s able to discuss these topics with her grandfather is a sign of progress.

Furthermore, Navya Naveli Nanda said that having an open conversation about these topics shouldn’t be restricted to women and young girls. She added that men should also join this mission of making menstruation a destigmatised conversation in our country. We are glad that Navya has taken the initiative to destigmatize menstruation.

For the unversed, Navya Naveli Nanda is the co-founder of Aara Health which is a trustworthy virtual healthcare platform for women and the founder of Project Naveli which is a non-profit organisation that aims to promote gender equality.
