K-Pop Bands, BLACKPINK, TWICE, BTS, ITZY, And More Bag MTV Video Music Awards 2022 Nominations

You know, I love listening to music because it works like therapy for me. But do you know what I love more than music? The answer is definitely award shows. And you will be glad to know that MTV Video Music Awards 2022 is finally here and the nominees have been announced. Well, speaking of nominees, we have good news for all K-Pop fans. K-Pop bands, including BTS, BLACKPINK and its member Lisa, TWICE, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, and ITZY are a part of the nominations list. K-Pop is ruling the world and how!

On July 26, MTV announced the official list of nominees for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) and K-Pop bands like BTS, SEVENTEEN, TWICE, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, and ITZY have received multiple nominations.

BLACKPINK 

This year, girl group BLACKPINK has been nominated for Best Metaverse Performance for ‘The Virtual’ (PUBG) and their maknae Lisa has bagged Best K-Pop nomination for her solo debut track ‘LALISA’.

TWICE 

Another K-Pop girl group TWICE received a nomination in the Best K-Pop category for their latest track ‘The Feels’.

 BTS

The biggest boyband in the world – BTS has received nominations in four categories, including Best K-Pop for their latest song ‘Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment), the group has won this award for the past three years at the VMAs. The group is also nominated for Best Choreography (‘Permission to Dance’), Best Metaverse Performance (Minecraft), and Best Visual Effect for their collaborative song, ‘My Universe’ with Coldplay. 

ITZY 

Meanwhile, ITZY received a nomination in the Best K-Pop category for their song ‘LOCO’.

Stray Kids 

Boy band Stray Kids also bagged a Best K-Pop category nomination for ‘MANIAC’.

SEVENTEEN 

SEVENTEEN has received nominations in three categories this year, including Best New Artist, Push Performance of the Year for December 2021 with ‘Rock With You’, and Best K-Pop for ‘HOT’.

For the unversed, MTV Video Music Awards 2022 will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on August 28.
