Recently, Sanya Malhotra’s starrer Mrs initiated a lot of conversation around the unrealistic expectations from married women set in this patriarchal society. The film, directed by Arati Kadav, also stars Nishant Dahiya as Diwakar, husband of Sanya’s character, Richa. Nishant recently opened up about the reactions he got from the viewers of the film and how he received more hate messages from men than women. Some got really bad!
What Did Nishant Dahiya Say?
Nishant Dahiya played the character of Diwakar so well that he made us hate it. The actor received praise for his performance, but at the same time, he also got some really bad hate messages from men. During an interview with Hindustan Times, Nishant spoke at length about the love-hate response he got from the audience for his character as Diwakar. Firstly, the actor stated that many women praised him for playing the role of Diwakar so well, and then Nishant went on to reveal the abusive texts he got from the men. Nishant Dahiya mentioned the vulgar messages and slangs that he received, with some men asking him to eat rat poison. Many men also shamed him for taking up the role of Diwakar and questioned his talent as an actor.
Furthermore, Nishant Dahiya also said that 95 percent of men are as toxic as Diwakar. The actor also added that many men lack self-awarness about the words or actions.
