MONSTA X’s I.M recently traumatised fans by shaving his hair at a concert, one of the only K-pop idols to do so. His group members, who have already finished their mandatory military service, cut his hair in front of fans, ahead of the youngest member’s enlistment on February 9, 2026. MONSTA X Members Cut And Shave I.M’s Hair During A Performance!
The K-pop idol group celebrated its tenth anniversary last year by releasing an extended play album, ‘THE X.’ It also marked the time all members reunited after five of the members were discharged from military service. To commemorate 10 years since its inception, the boy band also embarked on their The X: Nexus World Tour. Kicking off from Seoul’s KSPO Dome, the group performed three nights from January 3 to February 1.
This is the last concert performance of I.M, aka Im Chang Kyun, before enlistment. As a result, fans were already emotional about not seeing the maknae for almost two years. The ‘Love Killa’ group performed their hits and latest album tracks, while putting a pause to let Chang Kyun make a speech. He said he performed despite his back giving him trouble, saying he would halt his activities for the first time in ten years. Then, I.M announced that he would be shaving his hair, shocking fans in attendance.
His members joined in, but because it was MONSTA X, it turned out to be chaotic over touching. They trimmed his hair, then brought out an electric razor to shorten it properly. Minhyuk trotted in, snipping all over the place, before cutting right over I.M’s ear. Very carefully, he avoided injuring his co-member. However, they soon realised Chang Kyun’s in-ear wire had become collateral damage in this endeavour!

It was a hilarious moment for MONSTA X’s I.M and fans, offering some respite during an emotional moment. Some fans commented that the youngest seemed troubled, but it was ultimately quite funny. He won’t need the stage instrument anytime soon, as he is enlisting, so perhaps the little mishap didn’t cause much harm. Chang Kyun said he would get new ones made, obviously. Overall, the mood was sombre with fans tearing after the haircut.
