Pooja Hegde’s energetic song Monica from Lokesh Kanagaraj’s new Tamil action thriller Coolie has gained an unsuspecting fan in global screen legend Monica Bellucci. Talking about the surprise compliment, Pooja Hegde described it as one of the greatest compliments she’s ever got, and said that she has always been a huge fan of the style and on-screen presence of Bellucci.
Coolie, headlined by superstar Rajinikanth, is among the year’s most talked-about Tamil releases. While Hegde appears only in a cameo, her performance in Monica has quickly become a highlight, generating buzz well beyond Tamil cinema circles. The moment gained even more attention when an interviewer shared the song with Bellucci’s close friend Melita Toscan, who later conveyed Bellucci’s enthusiasm for the track.
Hegde attributed to enthusiastic followers that the song crossed borders, with information that Tamil fans actively tagged Bellucci on Instagram and invited her to view the video. She recognised their contribution to filling the gap, stating that it was heartwarming to realise so much energy about her work.
The actress also thanked director Lokesh Kanagaraj for giving her a song designed to increase the film’s commercial viability. She explained that being picked by such a big director for a high-octane number and having people respond positively to it made the experience all the more satisfying.
