Aespa Giselle Sparks Controversy With Her Posture At MMA Awards 2025
The 2025 Melon Music Awards happened on December 20 and stars like BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, Aespa, BOYNEXTDOOR, BLACKPINK’s Jennie, and others took over the stage and delivered power-packed performances. However, a short video which showed Giselle sitting with her chin on her hand and legs crossed while Jennie performed caused havoc online. Many Korean netizens said that she looked bored or rude, especially toward a senior artist. You can take a look at the X (Formerly Twitter) post below.
In K-pop culture, juniors often show extra respect to seniors through their posture. Hence, they didn’t like Giselle’s behaviour and felt that it sent the wrong message at a big event.
It became intense with people debating if it was real disrespect or just a normal moment blown out of proportion. Fans of the Aespa member, aka MYs, said small actions get judged too harshly in the entertainment world. Then, on December 21, Giselle chatted with fans in a live stream. She shared how much fun the group had at the awards but felt a bit sad too. Their seats were way in the corner, which made it hard to see the stage, nearby screens, or even the large display. This explained why reactions might have seemed off.
