Mira Nair Reveals Why Son Zohran Mamdani Declined Ishaan Khatter’s Role In A Suitable Boy!

Zohran Mamdani, the NYC Mayor, has now got some very loyal fans in India too. For the unversed, he is the son of a well-known filmmaker and writer, Mira Nair. Her recent mini-series, A Suitable Boy, starring Ishaan Khatter and Tabu, was a critically acclaimed work. However, Mira Nair recently revealed a very interesting thing about how she was considering her son Zohran for a role, and what response she got from him. Read on for more about it.
What Did Mira Nair Say?
Filmmaker Nira Nair recently spoke about the casting of the show A Suitable Boy, and made a very interesting revelation about it. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Mira Nair spoke if Zohran Mamdani ever wanted to become an actor. She revealed that her first choice for Ishaan Khatter’s role was her son Zohran Mamdani. The filmmaker added that she really wanted Zohran to play the part, however, in response her son simply declined the offer. As per Mira Nair, Zohran was also considerate about how many people want to be featured in roles, but he did not want that. The filmmaker also said that her son was the most reluctant actor and she accepted that.
However, Mira Nair also revealed that Zohran played a little part as a kid in the Queen of Katwe. The filmmaker clarified that her son would not be interested in acting, however, she would have loved if he did.
For the unversed, Mira Nair is know for directing projects like Monsoon Wedding, The Namesake, Salaam Bombay and Queen Of Katwe among others.
