Min Hee Jin Speaks Out About Shaman Messages During Court Hearing
The hearing for two lawsuits was held on December 18 at the Civil Division 31 of the Seoul Central District Court. The hearings were presided over by Judge Nam In Soo. They were about the lawsuit filed by Hybe seeking confirmation of the termination of the shareholders’ agreement with Hee Jin and a lawsuit filed by Min against Hybe regarding payment for the exercise of a put option.
During the hearing, HYBE presented a KakaoTalk (South Korean messaging platform) conversation from March 2021 between Min and a Shaman as evidence. In the conversation, phrases like “let’s bring it after three years” and “I want to have it” were used.
Hee Jin explained the context by saying that the conversation took place before ADOR had been established, and there was no shareholders’ agreement at the time, so I don’t see the relevance. She said that the conversation took place on the day when former employees went to work at the HYBE headquarters, and since she was the one who built it, the conversation was like an emotional expression to her, nothing more. The former CEO reiterated that the conversation with the Shaman had nothing to do with the shareholder agreement.

HYBE then questioned if Min Hee Jin had signed the shareholders’ agreement and established ADOR while harbouring negative feelings for HYBE. To those, the former CEO replied, saying, “Personal feelings have nothing to do with the business decision to establish a label.”
