Khushboo Patani, retired Army major and sister of actress Disha Patani, has found herself in the midst of a controversy after a clip went viral in which she was seen allegedly using an abusive word while referring to spiritual preacher Aniruddhacharya. The remark evoked caustic comments on social media, forcing the National Men’s Commission to intervene.
Men’s Commission Files Police Case On Khushboo Patani
Men’s Commission head Barkha Trehan officially filed a police complaint against Patani for uttering words she termed as “deeply disrespectful” against a Hindu spiritual leader. Trehan also went on the social media site X to corroborate the complaint in reply to a tweet endorsing her decision. She reiterated that silence in the event of insults directed towards religious leaders is not acceptable and promised to seek legal and societal repercussions for these kinds of comments.
The row started after Aniruddhacharya, aka Anirudh Ram Tiwari from Jabalpur, found himself at the centre of criticism for his controversial comments on women. In a viral video clip, he stated that women above 25 years of age who were in live-in relationships had multiple partners, a comment many criticised as misogynistic and backwards.

Severely commenting on the video, Khushboo Patani had attacked the preacher, accusing him of spreading hate and sexism in the name of spirituality. She had called his words unpatriotic and attacked his followers as proponents of dangerous ideologies.
But the hate targeted at Khushboo Patani escalated further when a social media misconception erupted that connected her remarks to another cleric, Premanand Maharaj. In the process, she found herself on the receiving end of extensive cyber abuse from fans of both men.
