Barbie Success Spawns Mattel Cinematic Universe, Twitter Shares ‘Tense Oppenheimer’ Memes!
We're not ready for this!

Greta Gerwig’s Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling starrer fantasy drama, Barbie has been making headlines. The film is much loved for being a feminist satire and one of the biggest films of 2023. And as Barbie dominates over Oppenheimer in the global box office, the internet is wondering if there are more Barbie films in the pipeline and it looks like there’s much more than we expected. The current buzz is that Mattel, the toy company that owns Barbie and Hot Wheels has plans of creating its own Mattel Cinematic Universe or as we’d like to call it Barbie Cinematic Universe. And oh, my my, Twitter seems to have gone into a frenzy over the news are memes flood the microblogging platform.
I watched Barbie – it was a great film.
Really dunno how you could walk away from it feeling like you needed a Mattel cinematic universe https://t.co/Ej0jMLK6tv

As per media reports, the toy company, Mattel has revealed that more films based on their toys are currently under development and they may open up their own studio to foray into filmmaking. Looks like more Barbie movies might be on the cards and as much as we’d love to see a spin-off on Allan and a separate movie on weird Barbie, a whole Mattel Cinematic Universe? We’re not sure if we’re ready for Barbie Cinematic Universe and Twitter agrees!
Barbie is a perfect stand alone film, please we don’t want a sequel or cinematic universe. https://t.co/rrlAL8UwrE

Twitter clearly isn’t ready for anything but spin-offs from Barbie and we’re with the internet on this one. We’re not sure if Mattel toys need a whole cinematic universe. NGL but Barbie did well at the box office not just because it’s a popular toy but because Greta Gerwig made it a feminist satire that matters and is loved by feminists across the globe.
