In recent events, Evangeline Lilly has opened up about sustaining brain damage after a head injury. This news came months later, after she fainted at a beach and even struck her head on a rock in early 2025. For the unversed, she is known for her roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Lost. She detailed her health update in a video shared on Instagram, and she revealed how the injury affected her.
Evangeline Lilly About Her Brain Injury
In the shared video, Evangeline Lilly said, “It’s late on January 1st. The first day of 2026. And I’m entering into this new year, the Year of the Horse, with some bad news about my concussion.” She also told her followers directly, as she revealed her ongoing health challenges. Lilly also said that her recent brain scans showed major changes in her cognitive functioning. She also explained that almost every part of her brain was moving at a decreased capacity.

As per her, the results confirmed that she has experienced brain damage after the traumatic brain injury sustained in the incident. “So, I do have brain damage from the TBI,” or traumatic brain injury, “and possibly other factors going on,” Lilly mentioned. Her statement emphasised the uncertainty she and her healthcare team are experiencing as they attempt to ascertain the full scope of the damage and any resulting health issues.
Despite the difficulties, Evangeline Lilly said she is working closely with doctors to understand her condition and focus on recovery, even as she acknowledged the exhaustion that comes with the process. She previously revealed that her injury occurred after she fainted at the beach and fell face-first onto a boulder, noting that she has experienced fainting episodes since childhood. The accident resulted in a serious head injury and concussion.
