In a shocking turn of events, popular Marvel actor Jeremy Renner has found himself embroiled in a massive controversy after Chinese director Yi Zhou accused him of sending her private n*de pictures and scaring her with threatening statements. The director took to her Instagram and shared her story in two parts along with the hashtags #cancel #jeremyrenner #canceljeremyrenner. Read on to know all about it.
She talked about living in fear that kept her up at night, worried for her safety, and the weight of keeping quiet to protect her image and her work. The director stated that no one deserves this and asked her peers in the Hollywood industry and others to stand by her side. She added that the drama has damaged a special project too. Further, the director shared a detailed explanation of when it all started.
Yi Zhou first heard from Jeremy Renner in June through messages that included explicit pictures that crossed the line right away. He gained her trust by sharing that he had been single for a long time and was ready for a true, long-lasting bond. She allowed herself to dream a bit, holding onto ideas of new beginnings.
Later, Jeremy signed contracts with Yi’s Italian company. He gave permission to use his photos, appearance, and more in their films. But two weeks after the documentary launched, he denied all public support. Yi asked him many times, both openly and privately, to help promote it. Instead, he let fan pages spread false claims.
The chinese director privately confronted the actor about his earlier actions. She asked him to act with respect toward her as a woman and director. He responded by threatening to report her to immigration and ICE. This shocked and scared her deeply. “Such behaviour is unacceptable and emblematic of the imbalance of power that continues to harm women in our industry,” she added.

Yi Zhou further added that this also spoilt the hard work of everyone who made the film. Lastly, she expressed deep sadness as both a woman and a director. She disliked how facts got twisted and how power was used to silence the truth.
In response, in a conversation with Page Six, Jeremy Renner’s team rejected Yi Zhou’s accusations right away. The team called the whole story false from start to finish.
