Manipur Actor Accuses Jigra Team For Discrimination
In his post, Bijou opened up about his experience working in Jigra and how the team members had very unprofessional behaviour, he additionally called out all the major production houses for showing bias against actors from North East. In his post, he said, he is not here to jump on the bandwagon with the Jigra controversy which is the alleged copying of Divya Khossla’s Savi. Although he has been keeping a tab of his experience with the Jigra team under wraps for a while, he thinks it’s time to speak up.
He further elaborated how back in 2023, he was approached by their casting team to audition for a role. So he sent ahead his tapes twice over four months, in line with their timeline. But by the end of November, the makers told him they would be shooting in December. What was concerning for him was they did not give him any firm shoot dates but still booked the entire month, expecting that he would be ready to shoot for them at any moment.
Bijou then called out the makers for wasting his time, which caused him to miss several other opportunities. He then said that he understands how big production houses operate, and the director is undeniably talented, but the way they handled this entire situation was deeply unprofessional. Bijou also pointed out that for actors like him from the Northeast, it felt dismissive and discriminatory.
