Man Arrested For Ticket Scam Fraud After Selling Over 500 Fake Tickets For BLACKPINK’s Tour

K-pop girl group BLACKPINK are gearing up to go on their highly anticipated world tour next month. The tour, titled ‘DEADLINE’, was announced a few months ago and the tickets for it sold out in just a few minutes! And like any big artist’s shows, scalpers are a problem for BLACKPINK, too. Recently, a man was caught and arrested for forging tickets to the group’s upcoming concerts. Read all the details here!

Why Was The Man Arrested For BLACKPINK’s Ticket Scam Fraud

A report by AllKpop reveals that a man in his 30s has been arrested in Seoul, South Korea, for a large-scale ticket scam, which included counterfeiting ticket passes for BLACKPINK’s concert shows. On June 18, the South Korean police unit of the Dongjak Police Station confirmed the arrest of a man, identified as Mr. A, for charges of fraud and forgery.

The arrest allegedly took place at around 9 pm on 17 June at a cafe in  Dongjak-gu, Seoul. Police reports say that Mr. A had arranged a meeting with a potential buyer to sell ‘authentic’ tickets for BLACKPINK’s concert. The police had received a tip-off for this meeting, and they swiftly arrested the man right on the spot.

Upon further inspection, the police noticed several discrepancies in the tickets that the man claimed to be legitimate. There were spelling mistakes and design elements that were different from the original BLACKPINK tickets. They were later officially confirmed to be fake after verification with BLACKPINK’s official ticking platform. Police also found out that the man had sold over 500 tickets through a secondhand trading platform. He is said to have made approximately 80 million KRW, which is roughly equivalent to $58,000 from this scam.

Authorities are currently investigating whether this man operated alone or was a part of a broader scam network. They have urged the public to be cautious while purchasing tickets from second-hand parties and to try and use official websites and platforms for the passes.

Given BLACKPINK’s global popularity and high demand for concert tickets, scammers often target unsuspecting fans with fake passes sold through online marketplaces. The incident has reignited concerns about the risks of purchasing tickets outside of official channels.
