Guess What? Mamta Kulkarni Rejoins Kinnar Akhada After Being Expelled From Mahamandaleshwar

Mamta Kulkarni has officially rejoined the Kinnar Akhada as Mahamandaleshwar following a brief period of resignation. Kulkarni, who embraced a spiritual path earlier this year, announced her return in a video statement shared on Friday. She expressed gratitude to her guru, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, for refusing to accept her resignation and allowing her to continue serving the Sanatan Dharma.

Mamta Kulkarni explained that her resignation was an emotional response to recent controversies involving her spiritual guide. She clarified that her offerings, which included significant religious symbols such as the royal umbrella and staff, would remain with the Akhada. She emphasized her commitment to the spiritual community and expressed a deep sense of responsibility towards her guru and the Akhada’s mission.

The actress’s spiritual journey began earlier this month during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, where she officially took sanyaas. During the sacred rituals at the Sangam, she performed pind daan and was conferred the title of Mahamandaleshwar. As part of her spiritual transformation, she adopted the name Shri Yamai Mamta Nand Giri and committed herself to a life dedicated to spirituality and service.
Her resignation, which had briefly caused a stir, was reportedly prompted by internal disputes within the Kinnar Akhada. Disagreements arose following accusations against Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi from within the organization. In response, Kulkarni had announced her departure, stating her intention to continue her spiritual path as a sadhvi. However, her guru’s refusal to accept the resignation and his continued support led her to reconsider her decision.

The situation stemmed from ongoing tensions within the Kinnar Akhada leadership. Reports indicated that conflicts had emerged between Kinnar Akhada founder Ajay Das and Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi regarding leadership authority. These disputes contributed to the brief upheaval within the Akhada, but Kulkarni’s reinstatement signals a move towards resolution and unity.

Mamta Kulkarni has firmly distanced herself from her past in the film industry, stating that she has no intention of returning to movies. She described her spiritual role as a significant personal achievement, comparing it to an honor earned through decades of dedication. With her return to the Kinnar Akhada, Kulkarni aims to focus entirely on her spiritual duties and contribute meaningfully to the Sanatan Dharma.
