Ranjith has been granted bail, but the court has imposed several conditions. It directed Ranjith to relinquish his passport, not to leave the Ernakulam district, and not to enter the crime scene in Fort Kochi, where the film was being shot. He was asked to execute a bond of ₹1 lakh and provide two solvent sureties of the same amount. The court also ordered Ranjith to appear before the investigating officer on Mondays for the next three months, or until the charge sheet in the case was filed.
Currently in Ernakulam Sub Jail, Ranjith will be released soon, though when the bail plea was considered, the prosecutors opposed it, saying he was not cooperative with the investigation. However, the defence counsel stated that he had neither objected to this arrest nor to the custodial interrogation earlier. The defence also included his health condition while seeking bail.
