It’s the era of OTT, and Indian shows are doing great. Lots of series have a massive fanbase and buzz around them. One of them is Maharani and now the political drama’s season four has arrived! Starring Huma Qureshi, Vipin Sharma, Shweta Basu Prasad, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti, and more. The trailer gave us a glimpse of what to expect and we have seen the first episode, and here are our thoughts on it! This season takes a deep dive straight into the dirty side of politics, power, betrayals, and more. So, read on!
Plot
In the first episode itself power and political strategies take centre stage. Titled “File Hai Toh Kursi Hai”, It starts with the Prime Minister, Sudhakar Joshi, played by Vipin Sharma, who is teaching in a class. Soon after, he finds out that his allies have turned against him because of his changed ideologies. He seemingly gets angry but remains calm and plots revenge on one of them.
Then he turns to Rani Bharti for help with his party, but she says no directly on national television. That gives birth to a big fight. The Prime Minister digs up an old case to pressure her. However she stands tall and looks him straight in the eye. By the end, she makes it clear she aims for his seat. What happens next? You have to watch further episodes.
Performances: Strong acting carries the whole episode and how! Huma Qureshi is fierce as Rani Bharti and brilliantly shows that she is strong and thoughtful. Her every stare and word leaves a mark and makes you curious about her next step.
Vipin Sharma matches her energy step for step as the clever and ruthless Prime Minister. The way he delivers his lines gives you chills. Supporting actors like Shweta Basu Prasad, Kani Kusruti, and others give their all in the first episode. Their characters give solid support and add depth to it. Lastly, Nobody overact and everyone is natural, bold and powerful.
Story: The tension is present in each scene and kept me glued to the screen. It doesn’t feel like one scene is jumping onto the other. The dialogues are powerful and if you are a fan of political dramas, you’ll like the vibe of the show.
The scenes are shot nicely, with crisp editing and the background music adds to the intense atmosphere.
Verdict: Huma Qureshi, Vipin Sharma Lock Horns In This Intense Political Battle!
Overall, this pilot promises a season full of intense clashes and schemes. The start it strong with great acting and tight writing and it makes it worth watching right away. In the further episodes, we can expect intense face-offs between Rani Bharti and Prime Minister Sudhakar Joshi and more twists and turns. It’s all about the game of thrones but still feels familiar with the same old themes of ambition and revenge that we’ve seen before in other shows.
So, there’s nothing groundbreaking in the first episode but the solid delivery leaves you satisfied and craving for more. Political drama lovers will have a lot to look forward to, and if the further episodes match the pace and delivery, Maharani season four could be another winner on the OTT scene. Directed by Puneet Prakash, it’s currently streaming on SonyLIV.
