Madras High Court Dismisses Netflix plea In Dhanush, Nayanthara Copyright Case
On November 16, 2024, Nayanthara lashed out at the Raanjhanaa actor for sending a legal notice and demanding Rs 10 Crore.

After Nayanthara’s slam post for actor Dhanush demanding Rs 10 Crore for the use of a 3-second clip from 2015, the latter filed a civil suit. In recent updates, the Madras High Court rejected Netflix India’s plea to dismiss Dhanush’s lawsuit against Nayanthara. This was raised after the use of a small clip from a film produced by him in the actress’ documentary- Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale.
Dhanush Wins Lawsuit Against Nayanthara
Madras High Court has dismissed a petition by Netflix India to reject Dhanush’s copyright suit against Nayanthara for using a 3-second film clip (produced by Dhanush) in her documentary without the Raanjhanaa actor’s permission. Dhanush had approached the Madras High Court against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan and their production house Rowdy Pictures Private Limited in November, last year.

The actor’s production company, Wunderber Films Private, also filed a petition at the High Court to sue a Mumbai-based entity handling Netflix’s content investments in India called Los Gatos Production Services India LLP. This legal action comes after Dhanush’s warning to sue if the disputed clip in Nayanthara’s documentary wasn’t removed within 24 hours.

On November 16, 2024, Nayanthara lashed out at the Raanjhanaa actor for sending a legal notice and demanding Rs 10 Crore. The actress issued a long statement on her Instagram handles complaining about Dhanush’s refusal to grant her permission for the clip from the sets of the film.
