Veteran actress Madhuri Dixit broke many hearts in the 90s when she decided to leave India to marry Dr Sriram Nene and move to the US. Her decision to move hit her career hard, with her being at the top of her game. Amid her moving back to India with her sons, she opened up about being hesitant to get married at first, but how, eventually, her husband felt like the ultimate blessing. Madhuri Dixit About Her Husband Dr Sriram Nene

During a chat on Ranveer Allahabadia’s YouTube channel, Madhuri Dixit said that she was earlier hesitant about the idea of getting married. She said, “Because I loved what I did. My career was like… every day was fun, and I would think that if I am with someone who is not right for me, then the fun is gone. And I just loved what I was doing, so I didn’t even think about it.”

While she loved her career, Dixit said that her husband came above it now. When asked if Dr Nene was bigger than her career, she said that if one was not happy in their life, they would not get happiness with whatever they achieved.  The actress said that one day, people might forget who you were, but only your companion would remember you, which is why they take a bigger place in your life. She went on to call her marriage a ‘great combination of art and science’ and how they always encourage each other to do things.

More On Their Marriage

On October 17, 1999, Madhuri Dixit married Dr Shriram Nene, a Los Angeles-based cardiothoracic surgeon, in a private ceremony followed by a banquet in Mumbai. She was one of Bollywood’s top actresses at the moment, but she decided to leave the film industry and relocate to Colorado to start a new chapter in her personal life. Interestingly, before they met, Dr Nene was unaware of her cinematic work and later stated that he only saw her as his wife and life partner.
