How Did Maanvi Gagroo Break Stereotypes In Bollywood Industry?
In an exclusive interview, the host asked Maanvi Gagroo what stereotypes she had to break in her professional journey. To which she said, “I think regarding looks because I never fit into any mould because the only existing moulds were either lead or lead’s best friend. So, now the lead has to be cookie cutter, you know, tall, thin, fair, and certain features. And her best friend has to be fat and funny.”
Furthermore, “So, I have actually been told that either you lose weight or put on weight. I was like, This is what an average Indian girl is. There are days when I’m feeling skinny, and there are days when I’m feeling very bloated and fat. Just like any other girl. Then, thanks to OTT, that changed. I remember that Pitchers was my first breakthrough project, so my favourite thing about that project was when the script came to me, it described Shreya’s character not in physical terms. It was all about her personality traits.” It’s nice to know that such brief’s exist and the times are evolving! Actors should be only judged by their skills and not looks!
