K-Drama Star Lee Sang Bo Dies At 44, Industry Mourns Sudden Loss

Korean actor Lee Sang Bo has passed away, as reported by several media outlets. The 44-year-old star died on March 26, 2026, and was discovered by his family. While the police were called to the scene, they have yet to confirm the cause of death. He was most well-known for his role in Private Lives and Miss Monte Cristo. Actor Lee Sang Bo Deceased At 44, Found By Family

Hankook Ilbo exclusively reported the Korean star’s death on March 27, 2026. The Pyeongtaek Police reported to the scene, but have an investigation about the cause still open. He passed away in Pyeongtaek, a city in the Gyeonggi Province.

Korea Management Group (KMG), Lee Sang Bo’s agency, was also checking on the facts when approached by Korean media. However, StarNews Korea reported that the actor’s funeral proceedings would be held at Room 3, Central Funeral Home, Pyeongtaek.

Making his acting debut in 2006 with Invisible Man, he had been in the Korean entertainment industry for almost 20 years. In an interview, he revealed that his favourite role was in Miss Monte Cristo. It is a loose adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo, switching the gender of the protagonist. Lee essayed Oh Ha-joon, the step-brother of the main antagonist in the show.

In 2022, Lee Sang Bo was accused of ingesting drugs due to his uneven gait. The police investigated thoroughly, but found that his conduct was a result of consuming alcohol while on antidepressants. He was cleared of all charges and received support from his colleagues in the industry. Reportedly, the actor started seeing symptoms of clinical depression after he lost his mother to lung cancer in 2019.

Some of the actor’s other projects include Daughters-in-Law, Cruel Love, and The Elegant Empire, the latter earning him critical accolades. It is reported that Lee’s social media posts were removed after his death.

The K-drama industry has lost one of its brightest talents.
