LE SSERAFIM’s Chaewon Faces Heat For Asking Media To Write Good Articles About All K-Pop Idols

LE SSERAFIM’s Kim Chaewon has found herself at the centre of controversy following her recent acceptance speech at the 2025 K-World Dream Awards. On August 21, the group attended an award ceremony, where they won several top awards. During one of the speeches, LE SSERAFIM’s leader Chaewon took a moment to thank reporters for their media coverage. What LE SSERAFIM’s Chaewon Said In Her Acceptance Speech
In her acceptance speech at the 2025 K-World Dream Awards, Chaewon said, “To all the reporters working so hard, thank you for showing much love for LE SSERAFIM. In the future, please write many good articles for all K-pop artists. Thank you.”

While her message initially seemed wholesome, it quickly sparked heated debate online. Some netizens criticised her words as hypocritical, pointing to her ties with HYBE, whose founder Bang Si Hyuk has long been accused of using media play and negative press to bring down groups from other companies.
Many people said that Chaewon’s speech would be more impactful if the words did not come from a HYBE idol. Users took to social media to express their opinions and tell Chaewon that the call is coming from inside the house, and she should instead ask Bang Si Hyuk to refrain from slandering other K-pop groups.

However, others defended Chaewon, emphasising that her intentions were genuine and that she was unfairly targeted simply because of her company. Fans argued that she has every right to speak up, especially considering the negative media coverage LE SSERAFIM themselves have faced since their debut.
