Actress Lavanya Tripathi Konidela, best known for her work in the Telugu film industry, has taken a big step to counteract online harassment. According to reports, she endured hate comments and abuse from a particular social media handle for a long time. Finally, she decided to take legal action against them. Married to Varun Tej, Lavanya Tripathi has been in the public eye since she was very young, acting in recurring roles in Ssshhhh…Koi Hai from 2006 to 2009. As a result, she is no rookie when it comes to dealing with haters and those who seek to defame her. Additionally, her father is a High Court lawyer.

Therefore, it makes perfect sense that she decided to take proper action against anonymous social media users. Filing a complaint with the Cyber Crime unit of Hyderabad Police, she alleges that a particular Instagram account has been repeatedly posting false and defamatory content about her. Additionally, her family’s reputation and her own have been affected by this account. As a result, she decided to file an official complaint with the police.

Taking swift action, the Hyderabad Police registered a case against the unnamed account owner under Section 67 of the IT Act and Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Section 78 deals with physical and digital stalking, while Section 79 is for acts that “insult a woman’s modesty”.

Accordingly, Cyber Crime officials from the police have launched an investigation into this, beginning their search for the person running the defamatory account. Reportedly, it has been using various pieces of evidence to trace the person responsible. One hopes they get caught soon.

In other news, Lavanya Tripathi’s upcoming film has faced several delays. Titled Sathi Leelavathi, it was supposed to release on March 6, 2026. However, the release has been pushed. One expects that a new date will be announced soon. This is her first project since becoming a mother and is highly anticipated.
