In the complaint, it is claimed that the man was dragged into their vehicle, abused verbally, and beaten physically before he was released in the wee hours of the next morning. The police have charged the four under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including kidnapping, wrongful restraint and imprisonment, hurt, intimidation, and obscenity in a public place. While three of the accused were arrested and remanded to jail on Tuesday, Lakshmi Menon acted swiftly to obtain protection from arrest. The Kerala High Court, on Wednesday, issued her interim relief pending consideration of her bail application.

Lakshmi Menon, born in 1996, made her entry into the film industry after years of practice as a classical dancer. She debuted in Malayalam cinema with Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya (2011) but gained fame in Tamil films with Sundarapandian (2012), alongside Sasikumar. The hits Kumki and Pandiya Naadu soon established her status as one of the brightest young stars in the industry. Over the years, she has balanced commercial roles with performance-driven characters. Her recent outing was in Sabdham (2025), a Tamil horror-thriller directed by Arivazhagan Venkatachalam, where she played a professor. The film, praised for its technical finesse, also starred Aadhi Pinisetty and Simran.
