Lakmé Fashion Week has kicked off in style today, March 19, 2026, at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre, with its latest edition running through March 22. Partnered with FDCI, this four-day event features top designers and new talents, haute couture, and ready-to-wear styles. Everyone is especially excited about iconic designer Manish Malhotra’s showcase, presented by NEXA. The legendary designer is making a huge comeback after a few years away and is debuting his new luxury prêt collection along with the MM Accessories line. However, a shocking piece of news has come on the opening night of LFW.
As per sources, the show has been cancelled following the passing of the designer’s mother earlier this evening. Garima Malhotra passed away on March 19, 2026 and left behind many beautiful memories. The news saddened many Bollywood stars and remembered her extreme support and close bond with her son. Celebrities gathered at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium in Mumbai to pay their last respects. Among those who attended the funeral were Karan Johar, Urmila Matondkar, Ronit Roy, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Saiyami Kher, and others.
On the night of March 19, close friends of Manish Malhotra came to his home to offer condolences. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Parineeti Chopra with Raghav Chadha, Karisma Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Kiara Advani with Sidharth Malhotra, Karan Johar, and Varun Dhawan came to comfort him.
