And after many actors gave their opinions on the same, Kunal Kemmu has been receiving backlash for his reaction to shorter working hours after becoming a mother. His comments did not sit well with many online after people ended up calling him ‘misogynistic.’

During a chat with his wife, Soha Ali Khan, on her podcast, Kunal Kemmu said that one cannot expect to be compensated more after working for a lesser time. He said that if someone wanted that control, then they must get involved as a producer or invest their own money into the project. He quoted, ” It’s very easy to do on somebody else’s part. So I am saying, empower yourself and reach a position where you can do this. You can’t say, you give me a job, but now I’ll tell you how you pay me and when I will show up at work.”

When Soha Ali Khan told him how such a situation could be difficult for a woman who chose to become mothers at the same time as her career was peaking, Kunal said that it was still a choice. He argued how one can plan all these things during the incubation period of nine months and clarified that it was a woman as well as a man thing. These comments did not sit well with users on Reddit, who wrote, “Incubation period of 9 months, plan it?!! What is he talking about? A group project?!!! This person is a parent & a husband,” and “All of these so-called men are closet misogynists and have a patriarchal mindset.”
