No one’s doing it like KPop Demon Hunters. The animated feature film just got nominated for two Oscars, and fans are clapping and crying happy tears! Released in June 2025, it rose to the top and became the most-watched movie in Netflix history. The cherries atop a highly decorated cake; the 98th Academy Awards nominations for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song (for ‘Golden’).
After Golden Globes Win, KPop Demon Hunters Oscar Nominations Speak Of Its Brilliance
The 83rd Golden Globes were held two weeks ago, and the Netflix film won the two categories in which it was nominated. EJAE, the songwriter and singer behind ‘Golden’, had everyone in tears with her emotional speech talking about her journey as an artist. After winning the corresponding categories at the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes earlier, there are high hopes for an Oscar win, or perhaps two. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the co-directors of the film, reflected on the nominations in an interview with Tudum, Netflix’s in-house entertainment portal. After receiving the news in the wee hours of the morning, Kang screamed softly, while Appelhans shouted enough to bring his five-year-old into the room.
Meanwhile, ‘Golden’ is also up for multiple Grammys, making EJAE the first-ever Korean-American songwriter to have a nomination for Song of the Year. HUNTR/X, the fictional group in KPop Demon Hunters, has also been nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. If they win, it will be the first time K-pop wins at the American award function!
The KPop Demon Hunters Oscars, if they happen, will be incredible for the film.

Competitors For KPDH At The Oscars
Some of Kpop Demon Hunters’ competitors for the animated feature award include Zootopia 2 and Arco. Despite the phenomenal success of the Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man films, no anime movies made it to the Oscars, upsetting moviegoers. ‘Golden’ is nominated alongside ‘I Lied to You’ from Sinners and ‘Sweet Dreams Of Joy’ from Viva Verdi!
