KPop Demon Hunters Actor Ahn Hyo Seop Speaks On Jinu’s Death, Hints At Shocking Comeback

Netflix and Sony’s animated hit movie KPop Demon Hunters has taken the world by storm. The film’s unique plot with the K-pop setting has left viewers wanting more. Among the most talked-about characters of the movie is Jinu, the demon idol voiced by popular K-Drama actor Ahn Hyo Seop. With his tragic past and connection with fellow movie lead Rumi, Jinu quickly became a fan favourite. In a recent interview, Ahn Hyo Seop spoke about his thoughts on the character. Jinu is introduced in the film as a 400-year-old demon who is haunted by his past. In a bid to erase his memories, he strikes a deal with villain Gwi Ma to murder HUNTR/X, a girl group of demon hunters. His plan is ruined, however, when he discovers that Rumi, one of the hunters, shares the same double identity as a half-demon. Their bond makes Jinu’s loyalties increasingly complicated, and he ends up betraying Gwi Ma in an action-filled finale and giving up his life to save Rumi and humankind.
Ahn Hyo Seop On Jinu’s Fate In KPop Demon Hunters
The bitter-sweet ending has left viewers speculating if Jinu’s story is really over in the film. Arden Cho, who voiced Rumi, has already expressed that she wants Jinu to return in a potential sequel. Now, Ahn Hyo Seop himself has revealed his thoughts on Jiny. Speaking to US Today, the actor admitted that he never initially saw how Jinu could return. However, as the voice of the character as well as a fan, he would also love to see Jinu’s comeback.
“I mean, Jinu gave up his soul, so I didn’t think that much about how he’d come back,” Ahn Hyo Seop said in the interview. “As someone who loves Jinu as a fan too, of course, I’d want to see him come back. But it’s not up to me.” He added that the film’s messages of embracing faults and shadows touched him deeply, and he hopes the franchise will keep inspiring fans around the world.
