Gaining attention for her casting as a member of the army team in Iron Squad W, Kwak Seon Hee came out as queer in July 2025 on a YouTube show. She appeared with her then-girlfriend, who is a civilian and non-celebrity. There, she also mentioned wanting to live as a married person with her partner. Kwak hinted at possible plans to tie the knot in New York City during the city’s iconic marathon, followed by a photoshoot in Jeju Island.

In the YouTube show indicated above, Kwak Seon Hee disclosed how she met her partner. The Korean reality star bonded with the barista at her regular bakery shop over a love of bread. Carb-fuelled and appreciative of the eye-candy, Kwak asked her out in a fit of courage. Apparently, her then-girlfriend smiled at her because she recognised the ex-soldier from Iron Squad W. Serendipity really brought these women together!
When asked if she was attracted to any of her Iron Squad W costars, Kwak Seon Hee replied in the negative. As she was working as a soldier, the thought didn’t even cross her mind.
Kwak Seon Hee also answered questions related to their relationship. Confessing that the couple had been living together, she said they tried to register their marriage too, but were rejected as they were a same-s*x couple. She hadn’t considered espousal before, but her partner made her want a lifelong union.
