Lee Jung-jae Talks About The Highs And Lows Of Korean Fan Culture

According to The New York Times, Lee Jung-jae said South Korean fans expect a lot. They cheer for their stars like family, give loads of love but also have big hopes. When stars mess up, it feels personal to fans, and they get upset.

For those of you who don’t know, back in his day, the Korean actor faced his own rough patches. In 1999, he got in trouble for driving after drinking too much, and his licence was taken away. In 2002, it happened again. Back then, the news called him out, but now he has become a global star. However, he still feels sorry about them.

Also, he’s learnt to handle what fans want while staying true to himself. The Korean actor said things changed with phones and apps like Instagram. Before, fans could only meet stars at events or send letters. Now, they talk online all the time, which makes their love stronger but also stricter.
