Kim Hye Yoon Recalls Facing Harsh Criticism And Verbal Abuse In Her Rookie Days

In the episode, Kim Hye Yoon recalled the harsh criticism she got on set during her beginner days. She was often told that her clear pronunciation would not help if her acting was weak. These words hurt her a lot at first. Slowly, she learnt how to control her emotions. She realised that some comments were helpful, and if she let the bad ones make her feel down, she would become too nervous to act properly on set.

The Lovely Runner actor also talked about going to over 100 auditions from the age of 17 and facing rejection almost every time. This made her think that she might always be the one who gets turned away.

Kim Hye Yoon also recalled that many painful words were said to her that could not even be shown on TV. She heard a lot of verbal abuse. Whenever something bad happened, she cried alone on her way home, whether in a car or on public transport.

The Lovely Runner actor further added that for seven years she worked without any agency to help her. Kim Hye Yoon also felt that she did not deserve better treatment, so she never took heaters or warm packs that others used. As a high school student, the cold gave her frostbite on her fingers. They swelled up badly, and her nails even fell off.
