Having a gay character in a film or series has become quite common today. Sometimes the character’s presence does not even add anything to the narrative, or most of them time it’s a stereotypical representation. This has also become a topic of debate among film lovers. Recently, actor Konkona Sen Sharma also shared her opinion on the gay representation in Bollywood films. The actor raised some very valid points. Read here for more about it.
Konkona Sen Sharma On Gay Characters In Hindi Films
Konkona Sen Sharma is currently busy with the interviews ahead of her next release, Accused. The film also stars Pratibha Ranta in a lead role. During an interview for Just Too Filmy, Konkona opined that Bollywood films would not have a gay character unless it was dealt as an issue, or was meant for some kind of derogatory humour. The actor further added that the same thing happens with characters who are differently abled. As per the world we live in, the default is just straight men talking in Hindi, with no variations, added Konkona Sen Sharma.
The actor will be seen as a London-based surgeon in her next film Accused. She and Pratibha Ranta will be seen as a couple in the film. The film is written by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani. And it will release on Netflix, on February 26, Friday.
On the work front, Konkona Sen Sharma was last seen in Metro…In Dino which released in 2025, it was directed by Anurag Basu. She has featured in several other films like Wake Up Sid, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, and Luck By Chance other words.
