SRK, Big B Share Hopeful Words At KIFF Amid Negative Boycott Trend

The announcement of a new film these days first meets with the boycott trend. And the grounds on which these boycotts are demanded are absolutely ridiculous. Case in point – Pathaan. The movie has landed in a soup because of its song ‘Besharam Rang’. People have decided to boycott the film because the song shows Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron bikini and that has just religious sentiments of the people. Amid all this negativity and noise, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have words of hope at the recently held Kolkata International Film Festival that prove such frivolous trends don’t bother Bollywood!

Clips of SRK’s speech have been doing rounds on social media as well. Addressing a huge crowd of his fans, Shah Rukh Khan said that positive people like him are still alive. From his speech, it looked like he is hinting at the boycott his film Pathaan is facing on social media.

He also went on to say that these days, the collective narratives are ‘shaped by social media’. SRK further added that the negativity leads to a rise in social media consumption.

Even Amitabh Bachchan had an interesting point to make about historical films. Big B said that there have been changes in the cinematic content and then, he went ahead to call the current historical films ‘fictionalised jingoism’. Furthermore, Senior Bachchan also said that this range in cinema has left the audience reflecting on social concerns and politics.

Such words from Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan prove that Bollywood is standing strong against the boycott trend and they are very much hopeful for their projects. The actors are standing strong against this negative tide and proving to the trolls that the boycott threat won’t work.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan movie has come under the scanner because of the ‘Besharam Rang’ song. The movie is slated for a theatrical release on January 25, 2023.
