Kohrra Season 2 Review: Mona Singh, Barun Sobti Lead A Solid, Gripping Crime Drama Worth Every Minute!
hauterrfly Rating: 4 / 5

Barun Sobti and Suvinderpal Vicky’s Kohrra Season 1 left a massive impact on viewers with its gripping storyline and standout performances that had everyone craving more. Now, Season 2, directed by Sudip Sharma and Faisal Rahman, has arrived on Netflix and has brought Mona Singh as a major new character. But does it match the magic of the first season, or does it fall short? Well, here’s our honest take on it. Read on!

Plot

This season focuses on the shocking murder of Preet Bajwa, a popular NRI social media influencer played by Pooja Bhamrrah. Her body is discovered in a barn at her family’s home in a quiet Punjab village called Dalerpura. Assistant Sub-Inspector Amarpal Garundi, played by Barun Sobti, gets teamed up with the new Sub-Inspector Dhanwant Kaur, brought to life by Mona Singh. She had a rocky past with her estranged husband, played by Rannvijay Singha, and was in a new relationship with her boyfriend Johnny Malang, played by Vikhyat Gulati. Family fights over land, hidden grudges, and old wounds all come to the surface as the cops try to solve the crime amid their personal struggles.

Performances

Mona Singh steals the show as Dhanwant. She is tough because she has to be but i;s human and easy to connect with. Her face says so much without big gestures and you can clearly see the pain and determination.

Barun Sobti brings back Amarpal with the same cool energy from season one. His quick, funny one-liners lighten the mood just when things get too dark. He handles the mix of guilt, care, love, and quiet anger really well. You believe every emotion he shows, which keeps you hooked on his character.

The rest of the cast does a solid job too. Rannvijay Singha, Vikhyat Gulati, Anurag Arora, and others play people who are messy and flawed. No one is all good or all bad, as everyone has grey areas, which makes the show feel real.

Verdict: Mona Singh And Barun Sobti’s Intense Crime Thriller Is A Must-Watch!

This season is a mix of crime with real-life issues in Punjab. It shows things like bonded labour, where poor workers get trapped by rich families, patriarchy that controls women’s lives, and greed over property. These topics feel current and important because similar stories have come up in news and videos lately. The show doesn’t push them too hard and lets them come out naturally through the characters and events.

The characters are well written, there’s a bit of smart humour here and there and the slow pace builds mood perfectly, even if the ending didn’t hit as hard as I expected.

There are so many lines in the series that hit me hard, which made it look like more than just a crime story. It gives us an insight into how messy and tiring human life can be. The weight of guilt, loss, and problems follows everyone, and there’s no easy way out. However, one might feel that it drags a little or too much stuff is happening at once.

Overall, the Punjabi setting, the dialogues, and the way it shows the darker side of family and society all work together to pull you in. The acting is top-level from everyone and takes you on a ride. So, if you like thrillers that go beyond just catching the bad guy and actually talk about society, then this is worth watching. It’s not perfect, but it’s honest and gripping.
