Women are often subjected to mockery, soon after they get into a relationship or get married. Maybe if it’s a reflection of some pre-defined notions, or just men assuming they’re being funny, women as they turn girlfriends or wives, bear the brunt of being called either toxic, controlling or too hard to please. Well, something like this triggered our conversation around this subject on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8.
In the new episode, actors Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra found their spots on the controversial couch, and Dhawan was quick enough to come with his disclaimer. Taking a dig at host Karan Johar, Dhawan confessed to being scared about the episode, and instantly said–”just make sure our relationships stay intact.” He went on to say that apparently, Johar is attacking married men on the show, to which Sidharth happily agreed. Reacting to this Johar sweetly mentioned how he has no one to which, Sid and Varun said–”so you want nobody else should have anyone.”

While this wasn’t enough, Dhawan went on to say–”married men are worried men,” and we’re like what? The actor’s confession was a concerning reaction and had us questioning if he thinks marriages are that fragile. Moreover, Dhawan again pleaded with Johar and mentioned– “Now what do you want to say about how you want to mess with our marriages?” Responding to which Karan yelled–“I don’t want to mess with your marriage.” Dhawan also called Karan Johar–“ghar tode.”
And while it seems sweet that the actors are so concerned about their better halves, but aren’t these disclaimers close to wife jokes? Do we really think Kiara Advani and Natasha Dalal would have these men in trouble, just because of some controversial chat show? And well, this isn’t the first time Varun has put his foot in his mouth. Previously, the actor while promoting Bawaal said–“Men need to be domesticated … Women will do that for you.”
