Netizens Demand Apology From KISS OF LIFE Over Offensive Livestream. Know More Here!
During the livestream, the members appeared in looks that many viewers felt were based on harmful racial stereotypes of Black people.

Right now, the K-pop scene is buzzing with a huge controversy. Someone who used to work for YG Entertainment has been leaking some old, private videos of BLACKPINK. In these pre-debut clips, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé are allegedly heard using the N-word. This has caused a lot of anger and discussion online. And now, another group, KISS OF LIFE, has found themselves in hot water for cultural appropriation.
KISS OF LIFE Receives Criticism For Cultural Appropriation
During a recent livestream to celebrate member Julie’s birthday, the dress code was old-school hip-hop. When the livestream started, the members appeared wearing outfits, hairstyles, and accessories that many viewers felt were based on harmful racial stereotypes of Black people. This included big gold chains, hats, and hairstyles like cornrows and bantu knots.
Julie born in Hawaii said the n-word and apologized, Belle born in Seattle acting crazy, I actually liked Kiss of Life and I thought Julie’s apology was sincere but this proves that black people are just something you can make fun of but if you get blacklash your sorry pic.twitter.com/tFwEpyN8F9

Immediately, many people online expressed their strong disapproval and anger. They found these portrayals to be deeply offensive and disrespectful. One user wrote, “this is honestly part of a larger issue because y’all will say “it’s not a big deal” when kpop artists get exposed for racism, when it just paves the way for worse behavior because they know y’all will defend it and they’ll still have support.” Another user wrote, “there’s no educating kiss of life on this they did this willingly and fully conscious of what they were about to do before & during this live. any apology will be meaningless and hypocritical, they don’t deserve to continue having fans and releasing music.”
The backlash against KISS OF LIFE has been significant, with many calling for the members and their company to apologise for their actions and to learn more about cultural sensitivity and the harmful impact of racial stereotypes.
