Kim Tae-hee Opens Up On Hollywood Debut And Working with Daniel Dae Kim

1. Butterfly is your first major project in an English-language series. So, was it more difficult to express emotions and play your character?

A. Since my first language is not English, and neither is my character Eunju’s, I just focused on the emotions she was feeling in each moment rather than worrying too much about my pronunciation or intonation.” Language was a challenge, as Butterfly marks her first major role in English but she focused on the emotions and pulled off her role brilliantly.

2. Since Daniel Dae Kim is the actor and also a producer, were there any creative conflicts between the two of you on set? Or was it easier to work with him due to his dual role?

A. “Daniel, as the lead of the series and the producer, was on top of every minuscule detail and every cast and crew member, and I was so moved by that. I thought that attention to detail and his sensitivity were so amazing. Honestly, Daniel was absolutely essential. Without him, none of this could have happened.” Working with Daniel Dae Kim, who stars as the lead and serves as a producer, was a highlight for her.
