Popular South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun is currently facing massive online backlash after Kim Sea Ron’s sudden death. Amid the ongoing controversy, the actor has decided to take matters into his own hands by taking legal action. Members of the Kim Soo Hyun Fans’ Union, which includes people from Daum Cafe Eucaris and DC Inside’s Kim Soo Hyun Gallery, announced that they will file a legal complaint against individuals spreading defamatory content online.
Kim Soo Hyun’s Fans’ Union File Complaint
According to Money Today, his fan union intends to take legal action against those responsible for spreading false rumours and harmful statements about the actor on various online platforms. A legal complaint filed by attorney Yang Tae Young of Siwoo Law Firm is to be presented to Seoul’s Seongbuk Police Station within a week.
The accusations against the nasty commentators are characterised as defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, which allows third-party complaints, as opposed to insult charges, which need direct victims to file. This legal action is part of a larger attempt to safeguard the actor’s reputation and promote a positive fan culture.
According to reports, the fans’ association say that this voluntary movement is to protect the rights of actors and maintain a healthy fan culture. They said they would not take personal attacks disguised as freedom of expression. They added, “We have collected evidence by collecting materials such as malicious comments, manipulated images, and false fact posts made online for several months.”
