The wait for Kim Seon Ho’s return to rom-coms is finally over, and it feels so good. Sharing screen space with Go Youn Jung for the first time, their new K-drama Can This Love Be Translated? has become a huge hit around the world. The story, beautiful locations, strong performances, and sweet and funny moments have everyone talking. I watched all the episodes in one go on Netflix and it pulled me in completely. Want to know if you should watch it too? Here is a simple breakdown.

Plot: The story is about Joo Ho-jin, a smart interpreter who speaks Korean, English, Japanese, and Italian very well. He stays calm and professional most of the time. Then he meets Cha Mu-hee, an actress who suddenly becomes a huge star after playing a scary zombie named Do Ra-mi in a horror movie titled The Quiet Woman.

However, the role leaves a heavy mark on her mind and she starts seeing the character in real life. Ho-jin joins her world when he works on a romantic travel show called Romantic Trip. Mu-hee travels with a handsome Japanese actor, Hiro Kurosawa and Ho-jin translates for them, but he and Mu-hee slowly grow closer. Well, it isn’t an easy path for them but do they end up together? I’m not adding any spoilers!

Performances: Kim Seon Ho plays Joo Ho-jin with so much charm and heart. It feels new and exciting to see him lead a rom-com again. He shows every emotion in a natural way.

Go Youn Jung is amazing as Cha Mu-hee and the zombie Do Ra-mi. She moves easily from soft and sweet to strong and dark. Their chemistry is strong. Every look and small moment feels real and makes you smile or blush.

Sota Fukushi does a great job as Hiro Kurosawa too. He is confident and sometimes funny, which makes the love triangle interesting and a little frustrating in a good way. Special mention to the supporting cast as well because everyone played their part well and kept me hooked till the end.

Verdict: The show looks extremely beautiful. It takes you to pretty places in Japan, Canada, Italy, and more, and the colours are soft and calm and never too bright. The scenes that show Mu-hee’s scary thoughts are done carefully and make you think about how hard it is for actors after playing tough roles. Also, all the side stories fit together nicely without feeling forced.

In short, this drama brings back the fun of romantic comedies. It makes you laugh, feel warm inside, and sometimes a bit sad in the best way. If you like stories about love, personal growth, and mishaps, you should definitely watch it. Cherry on the cake? All episodes are on Netflix now.
