According to SBS NEWS, the late actor carried heavy debts for years. She took on some of her family’s financial burdens and tried to help them. As per court papers, she was a creditor in her father’s bankruptcy case and owed over $147,000 USD.
Family Restaurant Failure
In 2021, Kim Sae Ron invested in a family restaurant, opened under a friend’s name. She poured money and used her industry ties to boost it. Sadly, the restaurant closed in 2024, unable to pay rent and fees. Adding to her money troubles, this loss hit her hard.
Kim Sae Ron’s DUI Incident
A 2022 DUI incident made things worse for the late actor. The accident led to fines and lost work and hurt her career. Her lawyer said that she was the head of her family and was struggling to pay bills. She owed ₩700 million KRW ($487,000 USD) to her agency, Gold Medallist, for covering damages.
Multiple Jobs
To make ends meet, Kim Sae Ron worked non-stop. She took jobs at cafés, bars, and flower shops and provided training to actors. The late actor urgently needed ₩50 million KRW ($36,000 USD) to repay an athlete friend, and her agency helped.
Personal Pain
A neighbour saw her crying on the stairs two months before her death. Kim Sae Ron showed her wrist and stated that her life was too hard. As per reports, she was indebted to singers, actors and agencies, and the debt was around ₩1.2 billion KRW ($882,000 USD).
