South Korean actress Kim Ji Won is set to make her highly anticipated K-drama comeback with the upcoming show Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia. According to sources, the production for the K-drama began on 4th December, and will be released next year in 2026. It is a mystery thriller medical noir produced by Studio S, Studio Dragon and HiGeum Studio. The show is an adaptation of Japan’s hit show with the same name.

Netizens are desperately waiting for Kim Ji Won’s Doctor X because it is created by the same minds that brought us critically acclaimed K-Dramas like The Fiery Priest and Taxi Driver. Ji Won will play the role of Gye Soo Jung, a genius surgeon who is incredibly ruthless in the operating room, nicknamed ‘the Mad Dog of the operating room.’
The upcoming K-drama also features actors Lee Jung Eun, Kim Woo Seok and Son Hyun Joo. Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia will be directed by Lee Jung Rim, who is known for VIP and Revenant. The script is written by Pyeon Sung Geun, a rising scriptwriter.
Kim Ji Won’s last project was the hit Netflix K-drama Queen of Tears with Kim Soo Hyun. In the drama, Ji Won played the role of Hong Hae In, an icy and straightforward chaebol heiress who heads the Queens Department Store. She received a lot of praise for her portrayal of the actor.

Kim Ji Won has also been nominated for AYA 2025’s Most Attractive Asian Artist, the voting for which has now begun. She’s also in talks for a historical drama, Detective Park Mi Ok, about Korea’s first female detective. The drama will be directed by Queen of Tears’ Kim Hee Won and written by Little Women’s Jung Seo-kyung.
