Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour: What Went Down In Concert Announced During Singer’s Trip To Space

Remember when Katy Perry went to space last week, and the internet anticipated it would be a monumental time in history. But then the trip lasted only 11 minutes, with a massive environmental impact and the whole thing turned out to be a PR move to announce Perry’s upcoming Lifetimes Tour?
The first show of the tour finally took place yesterday, and here is everything that happened in the much-anticipated space-inspired concert.

The ‘Dark Horse’ singer launched her Lifetimes Tour last night in Mexico City and will embark on a string of dates across North America in support of her seventh studio album, 143, which received mixed reviews by critics on its release last September.

Ticket Debacle

Things started a bit rough as Perry’s team hoped to emulate the success of Taylor Swift’s mega-successful ‘Eras Tour.’ However, many think that Katy’s controversial trip to space has had an adverse impact on ticket sales. Dates in several key American venues are particularly bad, with row upon row of seats still available to purchase.

The Intergalactic Odes

The first show of the tour was nothing short of theatrics. The main theme seemed to be all about intergalactic elements with futuristic stages and metallic cyborg-inspired stage outfits. The singer also recreated some space moves as she performed impressive moves mid-air for one of her songs.

The Setlist

Katy Perry had already revealed the setlist from space. In a video from the Blue Origin rocket, Perry was seen floating by the camera with a butterfly-shaped piece of paper containing the list. The print on the paper was tiny but fans quickly decoded the text. The setlist for the first show was divided into 5 Acts and included a blend of her newer songs along with iconic hits.

A Message For Haters

It seems like even after relentless trolling on the internet Katy Perry does not seem to regret her space endeavour as several elements of the concert seemed to pay a nod to it. The dress code for fans for the concert was their ‘favourite timeline.’ Perry called upon two fans dressed as NASA astronauts on stage and took a selfie with them, calling their outfits her favourite timeline.

With grand stages, powerful vocals, creative outfits and a good setlist we can’t wait to see what more the popstar has in store for us.
