Rishab Shetty’s Kantara is one of the most-loved Indian films. Last year, Dhurandhar actor Ranveer Singh found himself in a grave controversy after he did a mimicry of Rishab’s Daiva act on the stage at International Film Festival India (IFFI). He received severe backlash from the public and fans on social media, and an FIR was also filed against the actor which the latter challenged at Karnataka High Court. The plea was heard recently and Ranveer got an interim relief in the case, as per the reports. Read on.
Ranveer Singh Gets Interim Relief By Karnataka HC
Ranveer Singh’s plea in the Kantara mimicry case was heard by the Karnataka HC presided over by Justice M Nagaprasanna. Ranveer was represented by Senior Advocate Sajan Poovayy in which they argued that the actor’s statement was taken out of context and he had no intentions of hurting the sentiments of any community. While delivering the verdict, the bench reminded the actor about his responsibility towards to the larger audience. The Karnataka HC firmly opined that Ranveer Singh has the power the influence and therefore he should be more careful with his words and actions, as per a report by ANI. The court also opined that the internet will not forget it.
However, the Karnataka HC has asked the police to not act on the case till March 2, and has asked the actor to cooperate in the investigation.

For the unversed, Ranveer Singh did the Kantara Daiva mimicry on the IFFI stage, and also referred to Daivas as ‘Ghosts.’ The actor had later apologised for his actions and clarified that he had not intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.
