In the latest developments surrounding late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s will and estate dispute, his wife, Priya Kapur reportedly filed a plea to access his and ex-wife Karisma Kapoor’s divorce records. The businessman passed away on June 12, 2025. Karisma Kapoor Opposes Priya Kapur’s Plea
Karisma Kapoor’s counsel opposed Priya Kapur’s plea in front of the bench of the SC. According to ANI’s report, the petition was labelled as “frivolous” and an attempt to obtain personal and confidential details. The court asked the actress to place her objections on record and gave her two weeks to file a detailed reply.
For the uninitiated, Priya Kapur’s application stated that, as Sunjay Kapur’s legally wedded spouse, she is entitled to his property. She asked the court for the certified copies of the Transfer Petition (Civil) No. 214 records of 2016, which were filed when Karisma and the late industrialist divorced. Priya’s plea mentioned that these documents were important for the ongoing succession matters in the Delhi High Court. The application stated that Sunjay Kapur had filed a petition in 2016 asking for a transfer of the divorce case from the Family Court in Mumbai to Delhi. The ex-couple amicably settled their marital dispute, with the SC disposing of the petition on April 8, 2016, after recording detailed consent terms.
