Karan Johar produced Kapoor & Sons starring Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, and Ratna Pathak Shah. The film is still remembered for its realistic plot and banger songs. One of the songs that still plays at every party is ‘Kar Gayi Chull.’ In recent updates, Raveena Tandon recalled how Karan asked her permission before mentioning her in the song.
What Raveena Tandon Said
Badshah, along with Fazilpuria, Sukriti Kakar, and Neha Kakkar, wrote and sang the song, which referenced legendary diva Raveena Tandon. The phrase went like this: “Kya naache tu Dilli, hile hai London, matak matak jaise Raveena Tandon.” Now, almost a decade later, the actress has revealed how Karan Johar approached her before using her name in the song, fearing her husband, Anil Thadani.
During her appearance on Sony TV’s Indian Idol, Raveena Tandon said, “I remember Karan called me and told me, ‘I want your permission to use your name in a song’. As soon as I heard that, I was like, ‘How sweet? Of course, use karle.’ But then he was still hesitant, he was like, ‘What about Anil Thadani?’ He then said, ‘He won’t beat me up, no? Please take Anil’s permission first.”

Then Johar shared the two lines with Raveena Tandon, and both she and her husband found them cute. She said that irrespective of Anil Thadani’s permission, it was a yes from her. She mentioned how they were already great fans of Badshah and his raps. Sony Music India released the song in 2016, and it has received 502 million views over the last nine years. Shakun Batra co-wrote and directed Kapoor & Sons.
