Karan Johar Reveals Toning Down His Dressing Style Because Of THIS Reason. We Understand Him!

Just like his films, Karan Johar’s dressing sense is also top-notch. The director isn’t afraid to show off his extravagant clothing style that shines brighter than your future. But as a parent he understands certain responsibilities, which is why he has toned down his dressing style. The filmmaker revealed the honest reason behind it during a recent conversation with Sania Mirza.
Why Did Karan Johar Tone Down His Dressing Style?
It’s safe to say that Karan Johar is a true artist who expresses his artistry through filmmaking and dressing style. The My Name Is Khan director recently had a chat with Sania Mirza on her podcast titled Serving It Up With Sania. The director revealed that his kids, Roohi and Yash, have limited screen time but despite that things are still popping up online. He expressed being scared that he may have done things as a form of expression. Karan also shared that people think he is “different.”
Further Karan shared that he had to alter his dressing style because things were being talked about at his kids’ school. The filmmaker expressed that he was trying to adapt, so that Roohi and Yash do not have to be afraid of what is being said at school about his sequin jacket. The Student Of The Year director admitted being a “maximalist.” Having said that, Karan also acknowledged that many people advise others to be their authentic self but one is always worried as a parent. He hoped that if his kids found old footage of him, they would not get embarrassed. Karan made sure to tell the host that he does not want to change himself because of the world and desires that Roohi and Yash accept everything and everyone as they grow up.
People are often criticised for expressing themselves via clothes or something else. They cannot fathom how a person can be bold. But we love the fact that Karan is not trying to lose himself because of them and at the same time he is also trying to be a responsible parent.

Karan Johar is truly a busy man. While handling his production company, he also manages to look after his kids and slay on red carpets. The director’s professional front seems packed as Dharma’s new movie titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri will release soon. The film stars Kartik Aryan and Ananya Panday. It’s refreshing to see this duo share screen space again. The film is slated to release on December 25, 2025.
