Lately, Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown Ups, starring Kannada actor Yash, has been on everyone’s lips. It gained a lot of attention after makers released its teaser, which was followed by AAP Women’s Wing lodging a complaint to Karnataka State Women’s Commission for the alleged obscene scenes. Amid this, the actor’s old interview is going viral, in which he made a statement that many think does not align with what’s shown in the teaser introducing his character, Raya.

Yash’s Old Interview Goes Viral

After Yash’s Toxic became a central point of discussions among netizens, his old interview went viral, in which the actor spoke about doing certain types of scenes. Back when the Kannada star spoke with Ramesh Aravind on Weekend With Ramesh, he stated that he would not do any film scenes that he would not feel comfortable watching with his parents. While many social media users pointed out how this does not align with the scenes shown in the Toxic teaser, others supported him, saying that people can change with time.

AAP Women’s Wing Files Complaint Against Toxic

In case you don’t know, as per NDTV’s report, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Women’s Wing complaint alleged that the Toxic teaser shows “obscene visuals” that can affect the social well-being of children and women and that it undermines the Kannada cultural values. The women’s wing asked the Commission to direct the state government to cancel or withdraw the film’s teaser immediately. The move was important to safeguard social morality and protect society’s vulnerable sections, said the AAP leaders. They also said that cultural sensitivity and responsibility must be adhered to by visual content on public platforms. Further, the complaint mentioned that the teaser was released without any age restriction or warning, claiming that it can affect minors in a negativly and also compromises women’s dignity. 

Amid the controversies, Toxic still remains as one of the most anticipated upcoming films. The movie is slated to be released on March 19.
