Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut recently reacted to Jaya Bachchan’s name-calling incident. Bachchan recently found herself at the centre of a controversy when she clashed with Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar in the Parliament. The veteran actor strongly objected to being addressed as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan, which is her husband’s name. She said that only taking her name would have been enough in a heated back-and-forth conversation. Kangana Ranaut criticised this statement and said that it was a shame.

What Kangana Ranaut Said

In conversation with Fever FM and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut talked about this much-talked incident about Jaya Bachchan. She expressed that she found the incident shameful. She said that the differences between a man and a woman, as made by nature, are considered discrimination in this day and age. She continued by pointing out that there are different qualities in both genders and that their union is beautiful. She considered the situation as petty issues and criticised the direction feminism is taking and said that society is moving towards an ugly direction.

The Emergency actor called Jaya Bachchan arrogant by saying, “This arrogance hasn’t spared even the beautiful bond within families.” She said that people should embrace each other and not create divisions. She pointed out that people get flared up when their names are taken and almost get a panic attack. She said that she feels sad whenever someone says that their identity was taken over or destroyed because of such issues.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut’s directorial debut Emergency has been postponed, allegedly owing to mounting controversy. Kangana Ranaut and Mandi Lok Sabha MP said the film’s approval was “stopped” because CBFC members received “threats.” A new release date has not yet been set. According to The Indian Express, a source close to the CBFC stated that due to the film’s sensitive nature, certification may take some time.
